Tips to make online education more utilitarian

Tips to make online education more utilitarian

1.    Serious Learning Approach:

When you are attending online classes, you need more commitment and discipline to sit down to finish each session. Though you can be flexible as to when you choose to complete your work, it is important to follow the predefined time table. One of the easiest ways to engage yourself is to remember that you have a specific purpose for attending the session and you are paying for it. Just as you would for a traditional classroom, treat your online class as a real class, exhibit when you have good learning and understanding, connect to your trainer immediately if you have doubts in the session.

2.    Self-accountability:

Setting Goals in the beginning, self-evaluation on a weekly and monthly basis is a suggestible method for online streams. In the traditional setup, the student will often receive verbal remainders of weekly assignments and due dates. The online method may not motivate the student as seriously as the traditional classroom does. It is up to the student to be motivated and make sure to get assignments and timelines. If you’re facing challenges in holding yourself responsible, pair up with a classmate or friend to check in as an accountability partner. By being organized, proactive, and self-aware, you can get the most from your online class even when life outside of school becomes chaotic.

3.    Time Management:

The flexibility to create your schedule is one of the biggest appeals of taking online classes. But freedom can also be detrimental if you don't have concrete time management skills. Though managing time will depend on your schedule, developing your learning capacity and time management skills can surely improve the learning outcomes.

Create a weekly schedule that you follow, it should be in such a way where you can allot certain hours each week to reading, watching lectures, completing assignments, and participating in forums.

Commit to your online coursework as part of your daily routine, and set reminders for yourself to complete tasks without flaws.

While working on assignments, fixing the time frame and working with the help of stopwatch will help you to make yourself ready for the real-time examination.

Taking note of every unsolved problem before participating in the forum or dashboard will help you focus on learning outcomes rather than chit-chatting.

Honest validation, checking the performance periodically will help to understand the setbacks and make yourself work on them with the help of the tutor.

4.    Ambience & focus mode:

Setting Up a dedicated study space with no distractions will be the best way to organise your online learning module. The major challenge in online learning is to avoid social media applications. Scheduling the notifications and updates in focus mode during the study hours is the prescribed way to overcome these hurdles. Turning off social media notifications, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram is the best way to practice.

5.    Figure out the optimum way of learning:

There is no universal standard operating procedure for the best learning practices in an online model which matches for all. Not everyone learns the same way, so think about what types of information help you best grasp new concepts and employ relevant study strategies. If you’re a visual learner, for example, print out transcripts of the video lectures to review. Learn best by listening? Make sure to build time into your schedule to play and replay all audio- and video-based course content.

6.    Active Participation is a Key:

Participate in the course’s online forum to help you better understand course material and engage with classmates. This might involve reviewing a classmate’s paper on a discussion board or posting a question about a project you’re working on. Read what other students and your professor are saying, and if you have a question, ask for clarification.

Build relationships with other students by introducing yourself and engaging in online discussion boards. Your peers can be a valuable resource when preparing for exams or asking for feedback on assignments. Don’t be afraid to turn to them to create a virtual study group. It is very likely that they will appreciate it just as much as you do.

7.    Practice makes you Perfect:

Unlike the traditional classroom, the online model lacks the environmental and psychological advantages. The student should indulge in engaging activities, and stay focused to overcome practical distractions. Remember, “Anything is possible”; All it takes is practice.
