I was surprised to know that women's day is declared as an official holiday in Afghanistan. I have never expected or imagined this from a country where Islam is a predominant religion. I have checked Pakistan too in internet very curiously, even more surprised!!! it's an optional holiday for them. I asked one of my colleagues why not in India. He answered me with a statement without word holiday, "in India we treat women as GOD". Even I expected same type of answer from him.
Is that true?Is this really happening??Are religions saying this. Or anything else???
Women's day internationally celebrated on March 8. It commemorates the movement for women's rights. Almost all religious societies in the world claims that, they treat women with utmost respect and cultural heritage of their society adopted and accepted women has a supreme role.
Religious people will show lot of examples with reference to their religious literature to prove the significance of women in their model. According to the mythology of a religion which is majority, by the no. Of people following in India, the three most important factors for survival represented by 'goddesses ' or ' woman god ' those are Energy(or)Power, Education & wealth. So, it is ensure to make every person who worship those idols, replicating women in their family, a mate in office or a person on the street.
This is how the person who is following that particular religion, he will relate his goddess to the woman around him. The second biggest and fastest growing ( not a statistical measurement ) religion claims, when man speaking to a woman, he should bow down his head, must not see women except her feet.
I would like to spot a light on some internal aspects, unfold dimensions of these religious beliefs, Let's us have a closer look: Biggest religion in the world says, according to their religious literature, women should not permitted speak in their religious place of worship. Restrictions not limited to the freedom of speech alone. Restrictions Flared up to personal level like Menstrual cycle, polygamy, incest, abortion, contraception, divorce and many more. First 'women's day' of march 8 was celebrated on the occasion of acquiring the right of voting. Till that time woman not voted in Soviet Russia.
According to second biggest religion based on no. of people following it, says women has the physical status of 'an object' not even a living-being or at least a creature. Man can beat woman if she is not obedient to him. Woman should completely packed up with clothes, not allowed to show her face any other person, except to her husband according to their religious book. Discrimination supported by madness and Religion entered into each and every single moment of women to make her life miserable.
As per, one of the religious book which belongs a religion following by majority of the people in India, king asked his wife to prove her purity and virginity by jumping into inflammable hearth because she stayed away some time from him. The king who is a hero of the religion, is a role model, termed as Descended from the God, known for his idealistic personality and nature.
These are few examples to explain, how religion defined 'women', according to their religious literatures. Every religion has to evolve with respect to changing times. Those religions which did not respect the change is society receded into oblivion. Social reformers in almost every religion did not stand against the religion but intelligently quoted those versus which embarrassed change. But internal morphology and base structures remain same even after many reforms. Modern society in 21 century will not accept these barbaric concepts, So now a days religions may have adjusted or restructured the external view about 'her' but it may not be a probable solution for discrimination.
Those who talking about women empowerment and planet 50-50 should understand, discrimination of women deeply rooted into the minds of the people in the society, religion played a major role in this brutality. Planet 50-50 will be possible when society come up with a solution of an alternative way of life, which can replace our current religious model of living our lives.
